In The Ice Box

When my great aunt, a children’s book author who published primarily in the 60’s & 70’s was asked how a book was coming along, you could always tell her progress when she replied, “It’s in the icebox.” 

As a book grew closer to completion, she’d store the pages in the refrigerator which she still referred to as an icebox. She did this so if the house caught fire, her book might be saved.
